Sometimes, on account of clumsiness, I accidentally thumb up, or down, a post that really deserves neither.
When this happens, it can't be undone. You can either leave the thumb up, or switch it to a thumb down.
Suggestion: clicking on a thumb that you have thumbed should cancel the thumb.

I've been thinking about this too. This happens to me a lot and would clearly help!

100%. Using an iPad, I've done this before on posts I've had no interaction with whatsoever just by tapping the wrong place to scroll and would have liked to undo but couldn't.

I've accidentally given this suggestion a thumb up.
I'd like to be able to undo that and give it a thumb up on purpose.

If you ever see likes/dislikes on silly game posts, or post numbers divisible by 50, or a lone dislike on one of my many brilliant, crowd-pleasing posts, you know my fat fingers have been at it again.
Fixing it is just one of those things I've assumed is hard to do because else it would be done by now.

On a phone, its very easy to do when you are scrolling up, you can accidently hit it while scrolling

Happens also to me from time to time - especially when I just want to check who was thumbing up or down... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ sometimes when I hit by mistake the thumb down and have no time or chance to correct it (yes, that is an advantage being a semi-retired admin that I could correct it) I just hit at least the thumb up button in order to negate thumbing it down... :-)

Yes this is a great suggestion, thumbs up to Daryl. I accidentally hit those buttons all the time on my phone.

I had to thumb down a post of mine because I thumb it up accidentally. I would never thumb up my own post, even to increase its organic reach in that famous social network whose owner thinks that is the internet (pro tip).

What is the matter with that accidental thumb up? Why is it so important for people? Why they can't just move on with that?
Is it about sense of importance? Or just a fear of creating a false impression?
