He was making a slow car look like a great car! He was tottaly using barrier's to go faster. Was touching them just enought to stabilise the car and to make sure to stay fast all the time!

Yep! Almost forgot to say the memorable Imola GP where he and Arnoux fought side by side for half the track!

Wasn't it the 1979 French GP? That's the Villeneuve / Arnoux battle that I remember.

For Imola, that was against Pironi, who overtook him even though Ferrari gave the order to hold positions. Gilles was furious after it and said he'd never talk with Pironi again.
And then came Zolder;(
Quote ( Kostas Projas @ May 8th 2012,13:05:48 ) he died from an jochen mass taking the wrong side of the track when he was on a slow lap.
He saw him and was just going to move over as Gilles moved too...

Yay, that's a nice video up there Andrei. That's what's real racing. After seeing those greats only, we can conclude how unlucky we, the spectators and the F1 drivers are to live in the era of a dominating FIA. Hate Bernie!

i was 12. i don't remember a sportsman that Italy loved more. Pantani, Simoncelli... but Gilles was really deep in our hearts. he's the one, in sport world, that i loved more. the most spectacular, brave, reckless ever seen. he had such a big heart..... anytime i see a video about him, i can't avoid to cry, it's strange, maybe stupid, but it's this. Gilles brings me back to a different time, different way of sport: with no calculations, no business, just the idea of being the best, and winning. he drove by heart and is still in my heart. :(

I watch F1 since 1979, and by everything I saw, I think Gilles is the greatest F1 driver who never won a championship. He had no problems with difficult race, wet tracks, bad car or passing points. He had the genius of a Stewart, with the focus of a Senna and the talent of a Hunt

Nothing but subscribe add all this, just add all that it could with riders like Prost, Pastrese, Jones, Andeux, Lauda, Alboreto and Piquet among others.
